Recently, I've found myself paying close attention to cinematography in films and thinking how I would reinterpret them photographically. Of course, I would never be able to match the likes of Cindy Sherman's work with her 'untitled film stills' but in terms of fashion and the magical realm that we all see fashion being. Apart from look-books, photo-essays are most often told through fashion editorials, advertorials or basic campaigns and will often have a story to tell or an implied story line within the series. Currently, I'm in a Photo-Essay class and although it may seem simple, telling stories through a photo series is much more difficult than it appears.
Here are a few of my favorite stills I've stolen from movies that say so much to the viewer through their subject, content and form and are overall beautiful images.
Stay tuned for photos from my more recent shoots still being edited.
