Mike P for SBCC T-Shirts
Last summer I was hired to do a variety of commercial work for a naturally made crystal cave called Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns. They also have an extensive t-shirt collection which will be online for sale with these shots.
ON A DIFFERENT NOTE
HAPPY NEW YURS!
Most of my winter break has been spent alone hangin out with my Family's 2 dogs. They coincidentally happen to be the most depressed dogs I've ever met. seriously.

Just when I think that Burberry can't get any better, they go and do something like this and totally blow my brains out! Love the new series of acoustic songs Burberry is putting together for 'Burberry Acoustic.' Christopher Bailey does an awesome job of keeping a consistent English feel to the brand.

back east
I don't care that it's campy and predictible, because the ending of Good Will Hunting, for me, is faultless. Elliot Smith's "Miss Misery" combined with the cinematography of east coast turnpikes create a sense of internal, yet overwhelming contentment. After a summer-long stint living and working in Pennsylvania a few years back, this particular bit of the film fills me with nostalgia and reminds me of solo life adventures once taken.
I'll fake it through the day
With some help from Johnny Walker Red
Send the poison brain down the drain
To put bad thoughts in my head
Your two tickets torn in half
And a lot of nothing to do
Do you miss me, Miss Misery
Like you say you do?
A man in the park
Read the lines in my hand
Told me I'm strong
Hardly ever wrong I said man you mean
You had plans for both of us
That involved a trip out of town
To a place I've seen in a magazine
That you left lying around
I don't have you with me
But I keep a good attitude
Do you miss me, Miss Misery
Like you say you do?
I know you'd rather see me gone
Than to see me the way that I am
But I am in the life anyway
Next door the TV's flashing
Blue frames on the wall
It's a comedy of errors, you see
It's about taking a fall
To vanish into oblivion
Is easy to do
And I try to be but you know me
I come back when you want me to
Do you miss me, Miss Misery
Like you say you do?

feels like London today.
While home over break, I'm scheduling shoots and trying to tie down a couple portfolio shots for next quarters classes. Coming from Denver with the most sunny days out of any other US city, it's actually a really nice break to see some overcast weather. Perhaps I'll try my hand at mirroring the great Annie Leibovitz's soft ominous light and put my cell phone camera away. until then...
Alaska.
For me, when I'm not editorializing or creating a particular photograph that is planned and developed with a team, I always look for a more artistic form. For the most part, I only allow myself to make these interpretive and artistic photographs when on vacation or somewhere I've never been. This photo is of my sister Makayla, who lived in Alaska when I shot this last fall. It was such a funny coincidence and visual anomaly that was created from the her hair color and green jacket, and how they mirrored the Alaskan forest and leaves. I guess you could say, these side projects are a start to my Fine-Art alter-ego.
Photo Inspiration
I keep a folder on my desktop entitled, Photo Inspiration. It's a collection I've worked on for years, and add to it whenever I need to remember what's on my computer screen. Screen shots during movies, images I find on flickr, or while stumbling around the internet make for a nice collection of fun and refuge. When I am overwhelmed with writing 8 page papers on Thomas Gainsborough, or 15 page business plans I command+a it and start up the fun. Fun to see what I used to really love, and now what I think is out of date. Really a fun vice, and I really recommend it when much inspiration is needed.
It also helps me focus on what I want to do next with my photography.
You'll see the photos, just like my mind are all over the place.
